Lenovo IdeaTab A2109 9-Inch Android Tablet Hits BestBuy for $299

Lenovo’s latest Android tablet, the IdeaTab A2109 is already available at Best Buy with a $299 price tag and a Tegra 3 processor.

Engadget spotted the tablet on Best With a $300 price tag and a 9-inch display, users may be tempted to pick the IdeaTab A2109 up instead of a Nexus 7 or an iPad.

The tablet is tempting at $299, but without Project Butter and Google Now from Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, this tablet is a step behind.

The IdeaTab A2109 sports a 9-inch display.

The IdeaTab A2109 offers a 9-inch display with a 1280 x 800 resolution. The only review on Best Buy complains about viewing angles and brightness, so it may be worth a trip to Best Buy to see the tablet in person. The tablet is available in every store within 50 miles of us, so that shouldn’t be too hard.

Lenovo graces the IdeaTab A2109 with a 1.2Ghz Nvidia Tegra 3 processor. The Nvidia Tegra processor should deliver great looking visuals in games. Users can connect the tablet to a big screen with a Micro HDMI connection. The tablet includes 1GB RAM and 16GB of storage for apps and files. There is no Micro SD card slot to expand storage. The tablet includes WiFi and Bluetooth for wireless connectivity.

The tablet includes 1.3MP front facing camera for video chat and model-esque Facebook profile photos when no mirror is handy. There is a 3MP camera on the rear, which should be useful for snapping photos of notes.

The tablet is 14.1 ounces, measures .5 inches thick and includes a rollcage for added durability like many Lenovo laptops.

There’s no sign of the smaller IdeaTab A2107, but it wouldn’t surprise us to see it make a showing in the next few weeks.

With IFA 2012 kicking off in Berlin this week, new tablets from Lenovo and others are likely to take the stage, though we may not see many of them until later this year during the holiday shopping season.

    Epic fail.

    * 1280×800 LCD panel (never seen THAT resolution before!)
    * No Micro SD card slot
    * Only 16GB of storage
    * [Still] only 1GB of RAM
    * No Android Jelly Bean 4.1

    * Micro HDMI connection
    * Tegra 3

    Pretty disappointing — when are hardware manufacturers going to produce EXCEPTIONAL hardware?

      There is a micro SD slot (its between two speakers inside the cover). So you can extend 16gb to 32 more.
      Jelly Bean 4.1 according to lenovo is coming up. No other tablet other than Nexus has it anyways.

    Wow, Lenovo is dumb. Clearly they could have exploited the Nexus 7’s big Achilles Heel by including a micro SD card slot . . . except they didn’t.

    So for $50 more than the Nexus 7, you get older software and less portability. I’ll be this one flies off the shelves.

    That’s funny, mine has a micro sd slot. Sounds like this reviewer should be out of a job.
