LG G4 Rumor Reveals Key Details

As 2015 continues more and more details have started to emerge about many upcoming smartphones, and that includes the highly anticipated LG G4. Last year the LG G3 was arguably one of the better smartphones announced, and the first phone in the US with a “2K” display, but today new rumors suggest the G4 will be even better.

In 2014 LG changed and bumped up their release plans in an attempt to take on the competition, and revealed the G3 in May. Months earlier than the year prior. Aimed at devices like the Samsung Galaxy S5, the HTC One M8, and the Moto X. And while we expected something similar for the LG G4, earlier this month on LG exec said it won’t be announced until after March as the company continues to improve and perfect the new smartphone.

The first LG G4 reports and details surfaced back in December, but that was the only solid rumor thus far and the details have been rather light, until today. This week a brand new rumor is reportedly revealing key details about the new 5.5-inch screen, and the cutting edge tech that will be packed inside of LG’s new smartphone.

In 2014 LG announced the LG G3, the first smartphone in the United States with a 2560 x 1440 Quad HD (2K) display, which was well received. We’ve since seen many manufacturers offer something similar, but LG was the first to market. However, in 2015 they’re taking things even further by reportedly offering the world’s first 3K display inside of a smartphone.

According to MyLGPhones and a recent leak they’ve acquired, the upcoming LG G4 will have a stunning 5.5-inch screen with a brand new 2880 x 1620 resolution. Making it essentially one of the first 3k smartphones. All this means to average consumers is the same size screen will have more pixels for better images, crisper text, and vivid video for games, apps, and daily usage.

Below is a what’s called a User Agent Profile for the smartphone, revealing the new 3k display in some text for the device, but for now potential buyers should take this with a grain of salt.

According to multiple unconfirmed reports and new rumors the LG G4 will be coming in early 2015, possibly earlier than the May unveiling of the LG G3, and even sport a stylus to directly compete with not only the Galaxy S6, but also the Galaxy Note 4 and anything that Apple releases this year.

Previous rumors suggested LG may actually lower the screen size this year from 5.5-inches down to 5.3-inches, but with a new higher resolution 3K display on board that’s doubtful. Most likely they’ll debut an improved 5.5-inch screen, but we’ll have to wait and see. The details aren’t all clear or remotely confirmed, but if what we’re hearing is accurate here’s what initial rumors are claiming for the next smartphone made by LG.

LG G4 Specs (Rumored)

  • 5.5-inch 3K 2880 x 1620 resolution
  • 8-core Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM (possibly 4GB)
  • 32/64GB storage and micro-SD support
  • 16 Megapixel OIS+ Camera
  • Built-in stylus
  • Android 5.0.1 Lollipop
  • 3,000 mAh battery (or bigger)
  • more

For now the rumors have been very light regarding the LG G4, while we’ve been hearing plenty about Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and the HTC One M9. The G4 may fly under the radar and be released shortly after the few mentioned above and surprise potential buyers.

It’s too early to tell what we can expect from the LG G4, but most likely the company will look to take on the Galaxy S6, HTC One M9, Moto X3, and anything else from the competition. In recent years LG has bumped up the release date with each new smartphone, so we could be looking forward to an announcement and release date before May of 2015. Stay tuned for more details.
