Remember when all the talk was about UMPCs and folks were hitting up Microsoft’s OrigamiProject.com for all the latest hints and clues about what this new platform would bring us? It seems like eons ago, and a lot has happened in the mobile industry over the past several. Unfortunately, the UMPC concept never really took off, however, we have seen many of the goals like price point, size, etc come to life in Netbooks.
Given that, it is sad to see this post from Microsoft’s OrigamiProject.com announcing that they will be shutting down the site around the end of April. Ken!! explains that much of the purpose of the site is being met by the community, and that Microsoft is continuing to invest in mobile computing technologies like Windows 7, touch, and ink.
