Here are Microsoft’s Xbox One Launch Party Plans

Microsoft has never been shy about throwing large-scale parties to celebrate the launch of Xbox-related hardware and the launch of the Xbox One won’t be any different. The company isn’t just planning a release party for the Xbox One, it’s planning events in ten different cities.

The company detailed its plans for next week’s launch in a new post to Xbox Wire. Fans in the United States will have their choice of two cities to choose from if they’d like to take part in Microsoft’s own spectacle. Gamers living on the east coast of the United States should flock to New York City’s Best Buy Theater in Time Square.

Once there, the first 1,000 people to purchase an Xbox One console or an Xbox One Game will get the “opportunity to enjoy special gameplay experiences with Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct and other Xbox One game titles,” according to Microsoft. The company isn’t sharing any information about what these special gameplay experiences might entail. Stallion83, a gamer with close to a million Gamerscore on his Xbox LIVE account, will also be on hand. Microsoft will start admitting users into the New York party beginning at 9 p.m. next Thursday. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis will also be on hand for a special concert as well.

Users on the west coast can head to Los Angeles’ Milk Studios to get in on the fun. The company says that it’ll have stations where users can play Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct and other titles. The first 500 users to pick up an Xbox One game or an Xbox One at that venue will get tickets to a deadmau5 concert. Doors to the Milk Studios event open at 6 p.m. local time.

Microsoft will also hold midnight launches in Auckland, Berlin, Vienna, São Paulo Sydney, Paris, London and a Toronto event that will include the giant Xbox the company unveiled earlier this month.

While these parties sound great, users don’t actually have to trek to one of these bigger cities to get in on the launch excitement. Best Buy, EB Games, Game Stop and many other large entertainment companies are holding special midnight launch events of their own. Microsoft says users will be able to watch the festivities on Xbox.com, Spike TV, and Xbox LIVE beginning at 11 p.m. EST.

The Xbox One launches on November 22nd for $499. Microsoft last held an event in New York City for the original Kinect sensor for the Xbox 360. That event included all sorts of televised performances and dances from Times Square in New York City.
