Motion Computing Is Not Replacing the Atheros Wireless Card

In this article, I linked to a news piece by TGDaily.com, about Motion Computing supposedly replacing the Atheros Wireless card with an Intel 3945ABG card in the LE1700 Tablet PC. This was based on TGDailey’s investigation of some FCC filings.

I just spoke with Motion Computing’s Erin Maher about this story and wanted to pass along what we’ve been able to learn. Here are the facts: Motion is not replacing the Atheros WLAN card with the Intel 3945ABG card. In fact, the FCC filing for the Intel 3945ABG WLAN card was made so that, in the future, they could offer it as an additional wireless option for the LE1700. There is no guarantee that they will ever offer it; however, the certification is there to pave the way if they ever decide to do so.
