Moto 360 Rivals Rumored from HTC and Samsung
Earlier this year Google announced a brand new Android-based operating system for wearable devices and smartwatches called Android Wear, and since then consumers have been patiently waiting for more details on what we can expect from the project.
Android Wear is expected to make its first debut on a few smartwatches this summer with the LG G Watch, and the more luxurious Moto 360. Google announced multiple partners including watch-maker Fossil are on board, but this week we’ve received confirmation that HTC and Samsung both have plans for an Android Wear based product.

According to reports out of Taiwan the Moto 360 won’t be the only premium option this year, and a device being called the “HTC One Wear” will reportedly arrive later this summer possibly around August. Early reports from LG and Moto claim their offerings will be here by July, but more details on both below.
The sources that are confirming the HTC One Wear smartwatch reportedly saw the new wearable device in a demo, and came away quite impressed. Talks of a beautiful and jewelry-like metal finish with some aspects being made of polycarbonate, which is a durable premium plastic.
Being called the HTC One Wear makes sense given the company’s current products, not to mention they’ve been pushing the limits with aluminum smartphones and other durable materials.

Back in April we first started hearing reports of a Samsung smartwatch running Android Wear, but so far that’s yet to be confirmed. The company first launched the Galaxy Gear smartwatch with their own version of Android, but recently updated that device to Tizen, a new mobile OS from Samsung.
According to SamMobile a new Trademark filing has been spotted of a device being called the Samsung Galaxy Wear, hinting to the fact that Samsung also has a stunning watch in the works for sometime in the coming months as well.
So when can we expect these new smartwatches running Google’s Android Wear operating system to actually be available? Hopefully sometime at the end of the month or in early July.
Google’s annual I/O Developer event is set to take place the last week of June, which is a stage the company has used in previous years to launch and announce new products, and usually give some away to developers. It’s likely the Android Wear operating system will be a big part of Google I/O, and we’ve been hearing the LG G Watch will be released during the event as well.
Most rumors have the Moto 360 coming to market sometime in July, but so far the company has nothing to say aside from claiming the wearable will arrive “this summer”. Again, we don’t have concrete release dates for either device, but Google and multiple manufacturers are poised to release their smartwatch options and other wearables all summer long.

This week we also received a system dump revealing the Android Wear and LG G Watch boot animation when the watch is first turned on, shown above, and reportedly an entire list of the apps the smartwatch will have installed out of the box.
The LG G Watch leaks have started to arrive at a more alarming rate, leading credence to the rumors of a late June release date. We’ll be on the lookout for more details, as consumers wait for the first official Android Wear device to hit the streets.
