Moto X 2015 vs Nexus 6: 5 Key Differences

Customization

One big area that has been a selling point for Motorola and will continue this year, is customization. Motorola allows buyers to customize everything on this smartphone. Buy it on MotoMaker.com and choose the storage amount, the color on front and sides (black, white or gold) and then over 25 different main colors for the back. On top of that users can choose from Rubber coated finishes, real natural wood backs, leather, and top it all off with metallic accents for the buttons and other parts of the device and even get it engraved.

The Moto X is the most customizable smartphone on the planet. If you want something unique, the Moto X is the phone for you. The Nexus 6 comes in white or blue, and that's it.  I'll take a Blue and Metallic Black 64GB Moto X please.

The Nexus 6 doesn’t have dual front facing speakers. It just looks like it does.

The Nexus 6 does have dual speakers. Not sure where you are getting your info.

I had stated that I mistook it for the Moto X 2014 (which doesn’t have dual speakers).

You guys have got to do your research. The Nexus 6 has been discounted at the official Google Store for a while now. $499 gets you the 32 GB variant while $549 gets you the 64 GB version.

Which is a real steal…although maybe not so much when the Moto X becomes available

As of Semptember, amazon is selling the nexus 6 for only $350! For 32 GB no less! Keeping in mind there’s no external storage, and memory cards are relatively cheap now, it’s still more storage right out of the gate. I agree, the article should definetly be updated to address this price difference. The prospects are completely different now; the nexus is the “budget” option, and gives you a larger screen, bigger battery, more (internal) storage, and wireless charging (but honestly who’s going to use that with turbocharge onboard). But… The moto X pure has the sweet moto shortcut features (twist to camera, wave over for notifications, “ok Google” without unlocking the screen, etc.), faster turbocharging, customization, much better cameras, and slightly faster chipset. They both have water resistance I believe, but my understanding is that the new moto Xs’ internal and external coatings are more advanced than whatever the nexus has.

I’ll take the SD card over wireless charging! and I love wireless charging:)

you’d be surprised how easy it is to get over not having a sd card…aside from it being the slowest “cog” in the data transfer stream, they fail often, and if you dont back them up regularly, it can be devastating..Plus, with so much cheap/free cloud storage available, you’ll never miss having a sd card..

399 now gets you a 64GB Nexus 6 from Amazon. $100 leaa than 64GB Moto X. Is it worth $100more? I just dont know.
