Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX Hands-on Video

In addition to the Motorola Droid 4, Verizon also announced a follow-up to one of its latest Droid smartphones in the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX. The Droid RAZR MAXX, like the Droid 4, will be released in the coming weeks and we were able to go hands-on with it today at CES 2012 before its arrival.

The Droid RAZR MAXX is the successor to the original Droid RAZR, which, oddly enough, was only released a few months ago back in October of 2011.

So what’s the difference between the two?

Well, as the Droid RAZR MAXX’s name implies, it has a lot of something. And that something is battery life. While the original Droid RAZR sports pretty impressive battery life – it has a 1780 mAh battery, the Droid MAXX has a 3,300 mAH battery that boasts 21 hours of continuous talk time.

What’s impressive is that the Droid MAXX is able to house a battery that large but also keep an extremely slim form factor. The original Droid RAZR is 7.1mm at its thinnest point while the Droid MAXX makes the jump up to 8.9mm.

We held both in our hands and to be perfectly honest, it’s not that big of a deal, especially when you take in the fact that this is a 4G LTE smartphone which often don’t have the best battery life.

For now, we think it’s a worthy trade-off.

Other than the increase in size and the larger battery, the phone is exactly the same as its predecessor, a phone that we have our Editor’s Choice award back in November.

So you still get that snappy performance, an extremely thin form factor and a beautiful display, while gaining impressive battery life.

Certainly a phone to keep your eye on if you’re in the market for a new 4G LTE device.

Let’s just hope Motorola doesn’t have something even better just around the corner.

Pretty good idea. I said yesderdsy that I passed on the Razr and bought a Galaxy Nexus becaise of the replaceable battery & ICS….then I read a few hours later that the Maxx has a 3300 miliamp battery. I might’ve thought a bit more. I really liked the Razr.

Really looking forward to this one.  Finally an LTE device with adequate
battery life out the box.  No need to add some battery that looks like a
    big camel hump!
