MSI to debut Windows 7 slate next month
Word out of Digitimes is MSI, in addition to showing off their Android-based M Pad, will unveil an Atom-powered slate running Windows 7 called the “Slatebook”.
MSI’s Slatebook tablet PC will adopt Windows 7 with Intel’s latest Atom Zxx series processor (Menlow), a 10-inch display, and built-in 3G and Wi-Fi modules. The unit will be priced below US$500, the sources noted.
So basically, an Atom-powered slate Tablet PC, much like what the HP Slate would have been (or will be), minus HP’s TouchSmart interface and presumably without an active digitizer. While it’s possible it will be more than a plain vanilla tablet, I wouldn’t put any money on that.

If it’s out to compete with the iPad, it better have an active digitizer. Besides a full OS, that’s only other thing it could have going for it.
Pen is the way to go.

Yes. I just want to see a touch slate factor with active digitzer at a consumer price.

Is is just me, or is this a wierd name? I understand “Slate” one tablet or pad thing. I understand “Book” one display thing and one keyboard hinged together, like a notebook or netbook.
From a technolgy stand point the name is an oxymoron. Perhaps “Book” referes to the eRaeder capability; SlateReader?
