A new iPhone 6 release date and iPhone 6 Plus release date have been confirmed for the United States ahead of iPhone 6 pre-orders.

Yesterday, Apple took the stage and announced a brand new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus for arrival in September. iPhone 6 pre-orders are set to begin on September 12th ahead of an initial iPhone 6 release date on September 19th. As we move away from the iPhone 6 launch date, we’re starting to see new iPhone 6 release date details emerge, details that are bringing more clarity to buyers in the United States.

AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, Verizon, and C Spire all announced plans to carry the iPhone 6 on the initial iPhone 6 release date of September 19th. This is an improvement for U.S. Cellular as it lagged behind the rest of the pack with the iPhone 5s release. The other iPhone 6 release dates on major carriers were expected.

In addition to those carriers, regional U.S. carrier Bluegrass Cellular confirms that it will be stocking both the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus in late September. The carrier will not be a part of the initial iPhone 6 release date, rather, it will be release both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus starting September 26th. That date, like September 19th, falls on a Friday.

Bluegrass Cellular did not confirm an iPhone 6 pre-order or the iPhone 6 price though at this point, it’s safe to assume that the carrier will charge prices that are in line with the on-contract prices that were confirmed yesterday. The smaller iPhone 6 is cheaper than the iPhone 6 Plus though both command steep price points on-contract.Here’s how it all breaks down:

  • iPhone 6 16GB – $199
  • iPhone 6 64GB – $299
  • iPhone 6 128GB – $399
  • iPhone 6  Plus 16GB – $299
  • iPhone 6 Plus 64GB – $399
  • iPhone 6 Plus 128GB – $499

Those looking to buy the iPhone 6 or iPhone 5 Plus off-contract are going to have to shell out far more as the iPhone 6 off-contract price stretches to near $1000.

This new iPhone 6 release date confirmation for the U.S. comes shortly after new iPhone 6 release date details emerged out of RadioShack. The retailer will be stocking both the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on September 19th and it will be taking pre-orders ahead of the iPhone 6 release date. RadioShack will likely be one of several retailers taking iPhone 6 orders ahead of the U.S. release date later this month.

Of course, those looking at the Bluegrass Cellular models should not expect it to be sold there. Bluegrass Cellular is a regional carrier based out of Kentucky and those looking to snag the new iPhone will need to buy direct online or find it at authorized retailers in that part of the country.

Apple’s new iPhone comes with many of the rumored iPhone 6 specs that emerged in the months before Apple’s announcement. The high-end smartphone will come with two high-resolution screen sizes, 4.7-inches and 5.5-inches, and it will sport a new A8 processor, a new camera, NFC with Apple’s new Wallet feature, and a brand new design that utilizes the company’s well known metal build quality. These are the specs that will help the iPhone compete with these top Android devices like the Galaxy Note 4, LG G3, and HTC One.

It will also come with the company’s Touch ID fingerprint sensor baked into the home button, something that was initially released with the iPhone 5s. The device will, of course, run Apple’s iOS 8 operating system, an operating system that will be released on September 17th just two days ahead of the iPhone 6 release date in the U.S. and elsewhere. iOS 8 will also be coming to Apple’s older stable of iPhones and iPads as well.
