Chances are very good that we will see the new MacBook Pro 2013 release right after Apple’s fall iPad event, even as the focus is on iPads, Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks.
All Things D and The Loop both claim Apple will hold an iPad event on October 22nd, which is as good as Apple sending out invitations based on the track records for both publications.
In the report on All Things D, John Paczkowski talks about pretty much every new product we expect to see, but does not mention the new MacBook Pro or MacBook Pro with Retina 2013 update that leaks suggest is at hand, and that many buyers are waiting for.
An update to the original post links to some good news in the form of an earlier report that Apple will hold an iPad event on October 22nd. In the report at Current Editorials just a day after Apple announced the iPhone Micah Singleton shares news of the October 22nd event way ahead of the news and includes the new Macbook Pro in a list of products Apple will announce. Singleton writes,
“The Mac line has not been forgotten, as the late-2013 editions of the Macbook Pro and Mac Mini will be announced during the event, according to our sources. Both computers will receive Intel’s Haswell processors as part of their update.”
This is great news for buyers who are holding off on a purchase while they wait for a new Macbook Pro or new MacBook Pro with Retina Display. It’s not completely clear how Apple will split up the MBP and MBPr updates, but the new Intel Haswell processors should deliver a big boos tin battery life.
The standard MacBook Pro models are long overdue for an update, if Apple plans to keep them around. Likewise the MacBook Pro with Retina 2013 update could deliver enhanced integrated graphics and better battery life. The 13-inch MacBook Pro Retina could stand an upgrade in the graphics department and with an Intel 4th generation processor these new notebooks could potentially last all day, like the new MacBook Air Apple released this summer. The MacBook Pro is a thicker notebook that allows users to open the device and swap out RAM or storage easily while the MacBook Pro with Retina is a slimmer notebook with a higher resolution display and no user swappable parts.
If Apple announces the notebooks on October 22nd we could see a new Macbook Pro Retina 2013 release the same day online and in Apple Stores. We could see Apple change starting configurations, something that the company did with the MacBook Air update earlier this year. Apple is planning a late October OS X Mavericks release date according to 9to5Mac, which means we could see the new MacBook Pro 2013 update and OS X Mavericks arrive on the same day.
