New Microsoft Mouse with 1GB of Memory

The new Microsoft Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 is going to combine two of the items you carry around into one device.  The mobile mouse, that runs off of 2 AA batteries, is also going to include 1GB of flash memory in the transceiver.  Another feature of this mouse is that it is also rechargeable using the USB connection.  So, you can get rid of one item to keep track of while running around from meetings back to your hotel room, even thought a USB key is really small. Oh, and did I mention you can switch between 2.4Ghz and Bluetooth as your connection type??

While this is a good idea, I can see one problem – How do you use a flash drive?  For example, the way I use a flash drive is to take files back and forth between computers (not uncommon I wouldn’t think…) – while working on both of them.  So, if I transfer a file and the mouse is hooked up to the other computer, that means I loose the functionality on my other computer.  On the other hand – it sure would be nice to be able to take that presentation to a meeting and the only thing you have to do is take your mouse.  This will be interesting to see how it works when it is released next month for $99 US.
