Recently the Nexus 5 has been getting all the attention, following the Nexus 7 taking center stage when it was announced earlier this year, but that isn’t all Google has planned. Most likely we’ll get a refreshed ASUS Nexus 10 along with the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 KitKat, even though the details on said device are rather slim.
The Nexus 10 (2013) will reportedly be built by ASUS, instead of Samsung, and after a few small leaks the entire subject has been very quiet. However, with just a few days to go before Google’s rumored October 31st Nexus 5 announcement, we’re now seeing more signs that a Nexus 10 is indeed coming. Today the 16GB Nexus 10 is now listed as “Out of Inventory” on the Play Store, suggesting they’ve cleared the stock for a newer model.
This morning some reports were floating around with a new Nexus 10 press render, which was likely fake, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing a new bigger slate for Google. Following last years cycle we received the Nexus 7 first, then the LG Nexus 4 and Samsung Nexus 10 in October and November. This year Google looks to do the same, and we’re just waiting on the new smartphone and tablet.
Currently the more expensive 32GB Nexus 10 is still available from Google Play, but we’re not sure for how much longer. Add in the fact that eBay, Woot, and many other deals sites are all clearing stock of the Nexus 10, we have a feeling a new model will be announced any day now. Possibly as soon as early next week. Just in time for Halloween.
Google currently has the Nexus 10 as out of inventory, but the landing page does mention to check back soon. This is either because more stock could be arriving for those interested in the large HD tablet, or because we’ll be seeing a brand new Nexus 10 2 sometime next week.
If rumors floating around are accurate the new Nexus 10 will sport a beautiful 10-inch 2560 x 1600 HD resolution display and be powered by a quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. We’ve heard both the impressive NVIDIA Tegra 4, or the Snapdragon 800 from Qualcomm. Either way with a new design similar to the Nexus 7 and 5, improved internals, and Android 4.4 KitKat this should be quite the tablet.
There’s been speculation Google will have an array of devices to announce next week. From the Nexus 5, Android 4.4 KitKat and the Nexus 10, to even a Nexus smartwatch and possibly Android-powered light switches. It should be a crazy Android-packed Halloween.
