Nexus 4 Getting Update Amidst Android 4.3 Update Complaints
The Nexus 4 is getting a new Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update though it’s unclear if the software will tackle any of the bugs that owners have been complaining about since upgraded to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean back in July.
A T-Mobile support document for the Nexus 4 has revealed that the Nexus 4 will be getting a 1.8MB “Security” update though there is no elaboration on what that might mean for Nexus 4 owners. The update is build JWR66Y which differs from the JWR66V Android 4.3 Jelly Bean build that brought new features, and new bugs, to Nexus 4 owners back at the end of July.

The update, which should roll out in the near future, appears headed to the T-Mobile Nexus 4 though it should also hit the Google version of the Nexus 4 as well.
It’s not exactly clear what the update changes, if anything, but it doesn’t appear to the bug fix update that Nexus 4 owners have been waiting for. Those changes will likely come with an Android 4.3.1 Jelly Bean update in the future, an update that has unfortunately not been announced just yet.
Since Android 4.3’s debut back in July, Nexus 4 owners have been dealing with numerous issues that have marred the experience of many users. Issues have included problems with Bluetooth keyboards, battery life, hang ups on the boot screen, a sluggish user interface, and more. The bugs continue to mount and thus far, Google has not said when it might tackle these major issues.
Unfortunately, this new build doesn’t appear to be the remedy that some Nexus 4 owners are looking for given its size and given the vague changelog that is accompanying it.
Nexus 4 owners of course aren’t the only users dealing with issues. Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and Galaxy Nexus owners in particular are experiencing major issues with Wi-Fi connectivity wherein the device doesn’t automatically reconnect to known Wi-Fi networks, something that could be chaotic for data plans and battery life.
Google did address a major bug associated with Android 4.3 as Netflix rolled out an update for its application that fixed issues that Nexus 7 and Nexus 4 owners were having.

There was a security issue that resulted from applications using the Java Cryptography Architecture (JCA) not receiving cryptographically strong values due to improper initialization (i.e. a “seed value”). That was just fixed and I am guessing that the update is just now being rolled out.

Your hardware is likely the issue. Likely power issue/ battery connection. I think it called the power core. Back up everything before it progresses to reboot loop

His hardware is NOT an issue. Many users have complaint about rebooting issue AFTER an 4.3 update, specifically when using some apps like Skype and Gallery. Stop undermining such a serious software problem. I have three new nexus 4 devices and all three are rebooting when using Skype for example. And no, it’s not a Skype bug, rebooting is an OS bug.

The main issue I was having with the JWR66V 4.3 was slowness. It became fast in those things in which 4.2.2 was slow, and slow in the things 4.2.2 was fast. Since 4.2.2 was faster in many ways, this is slow. However this update made a ‘bit’ of a difference in speed. Waiting for 4.2.1. :/

My phone received the update in July – have been dealing with connectivity issues since: dropped calls, messenger keeps crashing or refuse to send messages, can’t seem to get on a 3G or even an edge network. Now with the new Build – not only do I have these same issues but worse, I also no longer have a flash on my camera, can barely hear anyone who calls me and the phone seems to want to reboot every 3 hours. I have two phones on the same network so I know its not the network. This is getting stupendously annoying…contemplating switching
