There is a NHL 15 demo release planned to let fans play the new NHL 15 early, but there are a few catches that you’ll want to check out.
There is no NHL 15 demo release on Xbox 360 or PS3, which is not surprising given the new NHL 15 features are designed to shine on the Xbox One and PS4 after NHL 145 skipped these consoles completely.
Perhaps the best news is that this is a free NHL 15 demo release and it is not limited to the Xbox One. The Madden 15 demo is essentially a several day trial of the new Madden release, but it is only available on the Xbox One and behind a EA Access subscription of $5 a month or $30 a year.
The free NHL 15 demo release date is August 26th, the same day as the official Madden 15 arrival and a few weeks before the full NHL 15 release date on Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360.
The NHL 15 demo will offer a full game experience with two-minute periods and a practice mode so you can learn how new NHL 15 features work, including the Skill Stick that lets you control the stick and your puck using the right stick on the controller.
When you want to play the NHL 15 demo you are limited to two teams in a Stanley Cup rematch. Choose between the New York Rangers and the Los Angeles Kings. Experience the new NHL 15 arenas that are packed with more lifelike fans and re-created with eery accuracy. Play as one of these two teams in the Madison Square Garden or the Staples Center.
Play the NHL 15 demo on Rookie, Pro or All-Star difficulty levels depending on how familiar you are with the series. There is no limit to how long you can play the free NHL 15 demo, so you’ll be able to master these new skills ahead of the release.
We still expect to see a near-full NHL 15 early release on the Xbox One for EA Access subscribers. This will allow Xbox One gamers to play NHL 15 up to five days early. This will certainly offer more than the free NHL 15 demo, and the progress made in the EA Access version carries over to the full NHL 15 release.
EA Sports focused on the Xbox 360 and PS3 last year and with the NHL 15 release Xbox One and PS4 gamers are the new focus. The NHL 15 gameplay trailer below shows what the game can look like on the PS4 and Xbox One.
This includes more realistic player models, a living crowd that will respond to in-game action like never before and physics upgrades that can deliver huge hits on the ice, better puck control and more realistic puck deflections. The list below offers a fast look at what’s new in NHL 15.
- Better Collisions – Every player on the ice is ready for a collision delivering more than just one on one physics, so you’ll see realistic multi-player pile ups.
- Players, Equipment & Arenas – The NHL 15 release includes new player models that are insanely more detailed than was possible on the older consoles.
- Stick Control – Use the right stick to control the stick and puck and the left stick to move your player.
- Better AI in NHL 15 – Your team is smarter thanks to the power of the Xbox One and PS4, so they will open up passing and scoring lanes instead of frustrating you.
The NHL 15 release date is September 9th for Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360. Most of the new features appear on the Xbox One and PS4 versions.
