Nokia 803 Rumored: 4-Inch Display, Huge Camera Sensor, Symbian

It looks like Nokia will be releasing one last Symbian-powered smartphone as BGR is reporting that the Finnish company is gearing up to roll out a device called the Nokia 803 which will apparently run Symbian Belle as an operating system and come with one of the largest camera sensors ever to grace a smartphone. In fact, rumor has it, the camera sensor on the Nokia 803 might be the largest ever employed on a smartphone.

The Nokia 803 is also rumored to employ a 4-inch AMOLED display, Near-Field Communication (NFC) for use with services like Google Wallet, microSIM support, as well as an HDMI-out port.

As for a release date, the Nokia 803 is expected to be out at some point in May. If that’s true, there is certainly an outside shot of Nokia announcing it at the upcoming Mobile World Congress which is set to kick off later this month in Barcelona.

Nokia’s press conference at the event is scheduled for February 27th, the first day of the event, and the company is expected to announce at least one high-end smartphone. Whispers have pointed to an announcement regarding the oft-rumored Nokia Lumia 910.

However, now that the Nokia 803 is back in the mix, it’s certainly possible that Nokia might end up making two announcements.

The Nokia 803 will likely be the last Symbian device that the company will release into the wilds as its focus is now on making hardware running Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 operating system.

Nokia’s 803 will apparently be running Symbian Belle, the latest Symbian operating system, which you can get a taste of from the video below:

The company has been aggressive in 2012 as it has released its first two Windows Phones, the Lumia 710 and the Lumia 800 and will be releasing another in the Nokia Lumia 900, a device that will likely be headed to AT&T’s 4G LTE network in March.

So while this may end up being the send-off for Symbian, it looks like Nokia will try to end the era with a bang.
