The Nokia Lumia 822 will come to Verizon sometime in the near future for $99.99. As the name suggests, the Lumia 822 is a variant of the Nokia Lumia 820 which will come to the U.S. on AT&T.
Like the Lumia 820, the Nokia Lumia 822 has a 4.3-inch display with an 800×480 resolution. It also has the same dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor as other mid-range Windows Phone 8 devices. The phone has an 8MP rear-facing camera with a Carl Zeiss lens and a 1.2MP HD front-facing camera for video chat.
Nokia only included 1GB of storage space in the Lumia 822, but it does have a microSD card slot so users can add up to 32GB of additional storage.
The Lumia 822 supports wireless charging, though it’s not clear if users need a special back for the feature, or if the device comes with it.
The Nokia Lumia 822 will come in three colors: black, white, and grey. There’s no option for bright colors like red, cyan, or bright yellow like other Nokia Lumia phones.
Like other Lumia phones, the Nokia Lumia 822 can run exclusive Nokia apps like City Lens which other Windows Phones can’t access. The phone can also use Nokia Music which is a free streaming music solution from Nokia that doesn’t rely on ads.
There’s no release date given for the device, though recent rumors said it could arrive on November 12 alongside the Windows Phone 8X by HTC. Nokia and Verizon will likely announce the release date sometime after today’s big Windows Phone 8 event from Microsoft.
With this announcement Nokia now has an exclusive Lumia device on three major carriers in the U.S. The Lumia 822 is exclusive to Verizon, the Lumia 810 is exclusive to T-Mobile, and the flagship Lumia 920 is exclusive to AT&T for about six months.
