Nokia Lumia 1520 Deal At The Microsoft Store Is A Switcher’s Dream

Published

on

A new deal from the Microsoft Store could be just the thing to get potential buyers of the Nokia Lumia 1520 off their couch and into a store. Users who visit the Microsoft Store in person can pick up the Lumia 1520, Nokia’s first phablet and the most powerful Windows Phone to date, for just $99. When they do, they’ll also get $50 in free app purchases from the Windows Phone Store.

Like the deal Microsoft offered on the Dell Venue 8 Pro last week, this deal is actually a part of the Microsoft Store’s 12 Days of Deals promotion.

As such, users need to head to their local store as soon as possible. In fact, it’s probably a good idea for potential buyers to rearrange their schedule if it’s possible. An earlier deal that allowed users to purchase the Lumia 1520 for just $50 and a two-year contract has already sold out, indicating that the device is in high demand.

Unfortunately, Microsoft’s attempt to get users who prefer not to get involved in two-year service contracts is already over online too. Today’s deals initially included a contract-free Lumia 1520 for $449. That would have been $100 off its normal price.  Users should be able to get that discounted price at one of Microsoft’s retail stores if they still have any available.

If the $50 app card wasn’t enough, Microsoft is also throwing in a free copy of Halo: Spartan Assault, the top-down first person shooter that it released on Windows Phone 8 and Widows 8 earlier this year.

Despite all of the parts of this deal that aren’t available anymore, picking up the Lumia 1520 for $99 with a two-year service agreement, a free copy of Halo: Spartan Assault and $50 in free apps is a great way to welcome potential switchers into the Windows Phone ecosystem. Having to repurchase apps are one of the main reasons some users refuse to switch from older platforms to new ones that have caught their eye.

To be clear, the Lumia 1520 is also just a great smartphone. The device features a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a seriously impressive 20 megapixel camera outfitted with Nokia’s PureView imaging technology. The device’s display is also 6-inches, making it a perfect competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 and the HTC One Max.
