After having announced that the Lumia 800 would be available to U.S. customers through Microsoft retail stores as an unlocked, unsubsidized handset bundled with some notable Bluetooth accessories, Nokia has announced that the same bundle will also be carried by Amazon and Amazon Wireless. The bundle, priced at $899, is expensive but does not require users to sign a contract, and comes with the Lumia 800 smartphone, a Nokia Purity HD Stereo Headset by Monster, Nokia Luna Bluetooth Headset, and the Nokia Play 360 speaker. The entertainment bundle is available either in an all-black package, or a second package that includes a white Nokia Play 360 speaker and other devices and accessories in that package in a magenta offering.
The unlocked 3G handset will work on AT&T’s network in the U.S. but will only be compatible with T-Mobile’s 2G network. In addition to the Lumia 800, AT&T will be offering the larger-sized Lumia 900, which will come with 4G LTE network support for its network; T-Mobile is now offering the Lumia 710, which we are giving away as part of a contest so be sure to check that out and enter.
The design of the Lumia 800 had won Nokia many accolades since the Windows Phone launched late last year at Nokia World. The phone features a more compact footprint, compared to the larger Nokia Lumia 900, as well as curved glass display. The unibody polycarbonate case on the Lumia 900 is both lightweight and sturdy.
