One of the leading companies in iPhone cases has just unveiled a new battery case for the iPhone 6 that comes with a huge 2,600mAh battery.
The OtterBox Resurgence is making a comeback after also releasing for the iPhone 5s last year, and the company claims it doubles the battery life of your iPhone 6, while also still offering military-grade protection that can save your iPhone from accidental drops.
The 2,600mAh battery in the OtterBox Resurgence is very unique, especially considering that most battery cases on the market are around 1,800mAh, although Mophie’s new iPhone 6 cases hover around 2,750mAh. In any case, you’re getting almost a 1,000 more mAh with this new case than on past iPhone 5s cases. This does add a considerable amount of thickness to the very-thin iPhone 6, but what you get in return is incredible battery life.
The Resurgence case’s most interesting feature includes an auto-stop function that automatically turns off the battery and its charger when it detects that your iPhone battery is full in order to prevent slowly draining the battery by keeping it charged to 100% constantly. It also includes a microUSB port for charging the case when its battery gets low.
One thing that OtterBox improved this time around was making sure that users could still use most headphones with the headphone jack on the bottom, since the added bulk would normally block most headphones from working without using some kind of adapter, but the case still comes with an extender cable in case you do have headphones that don’t quite fit in the slot.
The iPhone 6 Resurgence case will be priced at $99, which is a bit steep for an iPhone 6 case, but for such a large battery that will essentially double the life of your iPhone 6, that’s not a bad price to pay. No word on availability just yet or if an iPhone 6 Plus version is in the works.
