The iPod touch 6th generation release is something that some shoppers are giving up hope for, but after two years it's certainly been too long for a new iPod touch. 

Apple announced the current iPod touch at the same time as the no longer on sale iPhone 5. It is now two years later and shoppers who don't need a smartphone are looking forward to an iPod touch 6th generation release that always seems on the cusp of arriving. 

Apple cut the price on the older iPod touch in August, something that normally happens when a new product is on the way, and there were good reasons to expect an iPod touch 6th gen with the iPhone 6, but we're still waiting. 

It's still a good idea to hold off on buying the iPod touch, but there's no concrete evidence that Apple is ready to offer the iPod touch 6th generation this month, even though it's been too long.
