Every time I hear of a power outage it makes me slightly nervous about the wisdom of the having data stored in “the cloud.” Yesterday’s big outage in downtown San Francisco knocked quite a few big web players off line including Technorati, Craigslist, and Typepad (where my personal blog is hosted.) Interesting that redundancies appear to have failed in yesterday’s outage as well, causing quite a few to scratch their heads. As my office is experimenting with Google’s on-line suite of apps and I personally am trying out a few online services. I guess that is why I’m looking for the best cloud solution that also offers me the opportunity to store my data locally as well. Stuff does happen.
