The PS4 release is past and it’s tough to find a PS4 in stock online or in stores, which leaves some shoppers out of luck for playing the latest PS4 games and for giving the PS4 as a gift this holiday season.
If you absolutely need a PS4 for Christmas and don’t want to pay $100 to $200 more than it is worth on eBay or Craigslist, you should consider lining up for Black Friday 2013.
While you will not find any PS4 Black Friday deals on the actual console, or on most accessories and games, two stores will likely offers a PS4 in stock without the high markup of resellers, which is almost a Black Friday deal.
The GameStop and Walmart Black Friday 2013 ads show a PS4 console as available in limited quantities. This is good news as it means that at least some PS4 consoles will be in stock on Black Friday. The downside is this will be a crazy shopping day and these retailers may hold some stock aside to be able to offer the PS4 on Black Friday.
The Walmart Black Friday 2013 ad shows a PS4 as part of the Thanksgiving day sales which start at 6 PM on November 28th. This is a nice deal, but it will likely mean skipping Thanksgiving dinner to line up hours early. Lines for Black Friday sales start as early as a day ahead of time at some stores, but Walmart’s new plan might help alleviate some of this.
This year Walmart is instituting a wristband program, and separate lines for items which will allow shoppers to line up in a specific line and get a wristband. This will hold an item for that person for two hours after the sales start. So if you get a PS4 Black Friday wristband from Walmart, you need to pick up the item within two hours and then check out. The bands ill be handed out prior to 6 PM.
Unlike many flyers, the Walmart Black Friday 2013 ad does not say how many PS4 consoles will be in stock, only that quantities are limited.
The GameStop Black Friday ad is not live yet, but a leaked copy shows a PS4 console with a minimum of eight units per store. If this is true, this may be the best place to go for a PS4 Black Friday deal.
GamesStop stores are plentiful and less likely to be mobbed by crowds than Walmart which caters to a broader audience who will be there to fight over HDTV’s, crappy Android tablets and pretty much anything inside the store.
If you can’t wait and are a CostCo member or near a CostCo, check out their store as CostCo sells a PS4 bundle that is actually a discount and had dozens in stock this weekend.
