A new PS4 deal available through auction website eBay gets buyers Sony’s latest hardware and Star Wars Battlefront for a bit less than if they purchase it anywhere else
AntOnline began selling Sony’s PS4 gaming console and Star Wars Battlefront in a bundle for a slight discount overnight. Star Wars Battlefront is one of this year’s must-have games. Developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts, Battlefront immerses players in the Star Wars universe. In the game, you’re a lowly solider fighting through some of the franchise’s most iconic battles. Power ups scattered throughout the game’s different locations give players new weapons and offensive capabilities. Each level also has power-ups that let players become either a hero or a villain for a short time.
The outlet is selling the PS4 Star Wars Battlefront Bundle for just $329. For comparison, this is the same bundle that video game retailer GameStop sells for $349 at its shops and online store. A reason for the discount is unclear. The page for these consoles indicates that they’re brand new and unopened, so it’s not as if users are getting a refurbished device. “A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable).”
This PS4 deal is tremendous when you consider that just a short time ago shoppers couldn’t purchase Sony’s latest console for anything less than $399. Sony recently dropped the price of 500GB PS4 bundles to $349.99. Purchasing a plain PS4 without any Star Wars artwork on its front costs $349. Purchasing the Limited Edition Star Wars Battlefront PS4 Bundle still costs $399. To be absolutely clear, what shoppers are getting with this PS4 deal is the plain console.
AntOnline has a 98.6% approval rating on eBay. That’s a metric the site uses to help track trustworthy sellers and buyers. Over 600 people have taken advantage of this PS4 deal so far. Inside the bundle are a PS4 DualShock 4 controller, and vouchers for the same digital add-ons that players get if they purchase somewhere else. The copy of Star Wars Battlefront included in this PS4 deal is actually a code to unlock a game download through the PlayStation Store. The second voucher in the bundle unlocks classic games from the Star Wars universe. There’s Super Star Wars, Star Wars: Racer Revenge Jedi Starfighter and Star Wars Bounty Hunter.
Star Wars Battlefront has both air and land combat, though users don’t actually get to fly any of the game’s ships in space. The game’s dogfights use the same ships from the franchise, but are restricted to a planet’s atmosphere.
The timing on this PS4 deal couldn’t be any better. Star Wars Battlefront release day is today. It’s likely that thousands across the country stayed up late, waiting to get physical copies of the game from retailers like Best Buy. Thousands more should pick up their physical copy of the game from retail stores across the country today. Sony is hoping that excitement for the game will boost sales of the PS4 ahead of the holiday season. The company has very little in the way of exclusive games this fall. With Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End moved to next year, Sony partnered up with a handful of developers to heavily promote their games. PS4 owners will be the first to get access to new content for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, which released last week.
Microsoft was able to ride last month’s release of Halo 5: Guardians to best-ever sales, surpassing the sales of the PS4 in the United States. Whether Halo 5 and an army of console bundles with free games will be enough to hold off the rise of the PS4 with Star Wars Battlefront during the month of November isn’t clear.
