Gamers who purchase a digital version of the new Call of Duty: Ghosts first-person shooter for the Xbox 360 will be able to upgrade to the game’s Xbox One variant for just $9.99.

Microsoft’s Larry Hyrb announced the deal in a post on Twitter overnight. That brings the company’s digital offerings in line with similar deals being offered by GameStop and Best Buy. GameStop and Best Buy will allow users to purchase Xbox 360 versions of a select group of titles then upgrade to their Xbox One counterparts when the console launches for just $9.99 as well.

However, unlike the deal those deals, Microsoft says only Call of Duty: Ghosts is covered by their promotion. GameStop and Best Buy’s upgrade deal includes copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts, FIFA 14, Battlefield 4 and Assassin’s Creed 4.

Users will be able to purchase Call of Duty Ghosts for the Xbox 360 and then trade it later for a version for the Xbox One.

Users looking to order the game should note that Microsoft and Infinity Ward have confirmed that the Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts will run at 60 frames per second but only have a resolution of 720p before being upscaled by the console to full 1080p. However, the PlayStation 4 version of the game will run natively at 1080p. While the PlayStation 4 version will look slightly more detailed than its Xbox One counterpart, the game’s developer, Infinity Ward, says that most will be hard-pressed to notice the difference.

Without these upgrade deals Call of Duty: Ghosts would cost users a full $59.99 when it debuts with the Xbox One on November 22nd. Users can still pre-order physical copies of Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 if they aren’t too keen on buying games digitally. Games purchased through Xbox LIVE and the PlayStation Network can’t be resold to stores like GameStop.

Buyers can still pre-order an Xbox One at their local GameStop location for pickup on launch day. GameStop does require that users put down a deposit of at least $100.
