The September OS X 10.11.6 update includes the following fixes for the OS.

- Description: A validation issue was addressed through improved input sanitization.

- Impact: An application may be able to execute arbitrary code with kernel privileges
- Description: A memory corruption issue was addressed through improved memory handling.

Apple also includes fixes for Safari in this security fix. Essentially these updates block a loophole that could allow someone to spy on your computer. It was previously used to spy on journalists and dissidents.WebKit

- Impact: Visiting a maliciously crafted website may lead to arbitrary code execution
