You’re tempted to go out and buy a new iPhone now, or maybe you’re looking at buying a Galaxy S5, LG G3 or a Galaxy Note 3. No matter what new phone you want to buy, this is the worst time to buy it.
There is always something new coming out and you could end up waiting for the next big thing over and over without enjoying a new smartphone, but the next two and a half weeks are the worst time to buy a new iPhone or new Android phone of 2014.
By waiting to buy a new iPhone or Android for less than three weeks you’ll get more options, better prices and the satisfaction that you won’t be lusting after the newest gear next week.
Read on to learn why this is a horrible time to buy a new iPhone or any of the best Android phones on the market.
iPhone 6, Galaxy Note 4 & Moto X+1
These three smartphones are due for an announcement in under three weeks. Samsung will announce the Galaxy Note 4 on September 3rd, Motorola will announce the new Moto X+1 on September 4th and it looks like Apple will announce the new iPhone on September 9th.
Within 17 days you will know about the last of the major smartphone announcements for 2014. The only straggler may be a Nexus 6 announcement from Google, but despite successes it is not as popular as the Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3 and iPhones.
We don’t know when these new phones will arrive on store shelves, but it looks like the iPhone 6 release date is on track for September 19th. The Galaxy Note 4 release date could arrive as early as that same week or at least soon after. It’s possible that the Moto X+1 release date could beat both of these phones to market arriving as early as September 10th.
It’s simple. If you wait just over two weeks you will know exactly what your options are for the picking from the best smartphones of 2014.
Why Should I Wait?
Even if you don’t plan to buy one of these three new phones it is a good idea to wait unless you are absolutely sure you don’t care about any of the new features and you found a great deal that already chops more than $100 off the retail price of the phone.
You may not want a bigger iPhone 6 screen, and if you can buy the $79 iPhone 5s at Walmart happily, go for it. But if you are looking at one of the new payment plans or shopping at a carrier that charges $199 on contract you need to wait and you’ll be able to buy the iPhone 5s for at least $100 off.
The Galaxy Note 3 is $229 on AT&T, down from $299, but if you wait until the Galaxy Note 4 release you’ll see the price drop even further.
This is one of the few times you can count on a deal in the very near future that is worth waiting for. Even if you are sure you want the older phone, waiting several days can easily save you $100 when buying the new iPhone or Android on contract.
