The Rory McIlroy PGA Tour release date has been delayed but EA’s highly anticipated golf simulation is still set to arrive for consoles this summer. With a release date confirmed, we take a look at some things buyers need to know, right now, about the Rory McIlroy PGA Tour release.

For years, gamers enjoyed yearly Tiger Woods PGA Tour series of games for the Xbox and PlayStation. Then, after the release of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 in 2013, Electronic Arts put the series on hiatus with no clear sign of what was ahead.

In June 2014, EA showed off a demo of its next golf game which, at the time, was dubbed EA Sports PGA Tour. The company confirmed plans to use the Frostbite 3 engine that was developed for the popular Battlefield series of games. The company did not outline an official name or a release date leaving those announcements for another day.

Two months ago, EA signed well known golf star Rory McIlroy as the cover athlete for its next golf game. In response, the company renamed the game Rory McIlroy PGA Tour and tagged it with a June release date for Xbox and PlayStation. That release date has since been delayed but excitement for the game continues to grow as we push towards the summer.

With a concrete Rory McIlroy PGA Tour confirmed once again and with E3 2015 coming up in just a few weeks, we want to take a look at everything we know right now about the Rory McIlroy PGA Tour release. If you’ve been following along, this will serve as a reminder. If you haven’t been following along, this roundup will get you all caught up with the latest details.
