Samsung Galaxy Alpha Rumored to Arrive Ahead of iPhone 6

Leaks have shown a new device called the Samsung Galaxy Alpha is coming soon to take on the rumored iPhone 6, and we’re now hearing it could be announced and released sooner rather than later.

With an iPhone 6 launch nearing, one with a bigger 4.7-inch display to potentially steal some of the Android users who jumped ship to a device with a larger screen, like the Galaxy S4, the competition should be a bit worried. In an attempt to battle in that same category rumor has it the Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be an all aluminum 4.7-inch smartphone aimed directly at the iPhone 6.

Last week SamMobile received some of the first images of the purported smartphone, and now they have what’s potentially the announcement date. According to their source Samsung’s latest smartphone could be announced as soon as by the end of next week. Continue on for more details regarding the Galaxy Alpha, and what to expect.

For the past few years we’ve been hearing rumors that Samsung would ditch the traditional plastic on their smartphones in favor of something more robust and premium, like aluminum offered on the HTC One M8 or the iPhone 5. That was the biggest rumor before the Galaxy S5 was released, which arrived in all plastic with no metal in sight, and now the rumors have fired up again.

To add fuel to these fires an array of leaks have surfaced that Samsung has a metal Galaxy F headed to Korea, and even the Samsung Galaxy Alpha we’re talking about here today.

If the latest reports and rumors are accurate Samsung will release a device being called the Galaxy Alpha (may not be final name) that sports a 4.7-inch display, and some top-tier specs to go along with it. The difference between this and a few of their other devices though, is as you can see from the picture above and below, it’s wrapped in an aluminum shell. This will be the first durable aluminum device from Samsung running Android, something buyers have wanted for years. At least that’s what we’re led to believe.

With the iPhone 6 finally set to deliver a bigger display, yet the same durable materials and craftsmanship Apple always delivers, Samsung is reportedly going to deliver the Galaxy Alpha around the same time to steal some of its thunder. However, this week SamMobile states the new Samsung Galaxy Alpha will actually be announced next week, and should be available in select regions and stores before the end of the month. Way ahead of the expected late September iPhone 6 reveal.

Rumors have been back and forth regarding the specs of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha, so we’ll have to wait and see. Some some reports suggest the 4.7-inch screen will have a stunning 2560 x 1440 Quad HD resolution to battle any Retina screen from Apple, others suggested it will simply be a quality 720p HD display. That means this will either be a high-end flagship smartphone, or essentially a Galaxy S5 Mini with an aluminum design. We won’t know for sure until Samsung makes it official.

Other specs include 2-3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and all the other features users have seen or are enjoying from the Galaxy S5. Those being a fingerprint scanner under the dedicated home button, a powerful 16 megapixel rear camera, and even the same heart-rate sensor built into the camera flash for health and fitness.

Again, most of these are rumors for now, and some have very different details than the others. This means that the final specs and information regarding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Alpha have yet to be finalized, or leaks from a reliable source. If the August 4th announcement date is indeed accurate we’ll know more soon enough.

The competition is really going to be tough. For 4.7 inch Sapphire display, Samsung will launch this Alpha model and for 5.5 inch display category, Samsung will launch the Galaxy Note 4. I still support iPhone 6 that may even compatible with wireless charging pad, slim body and have higher resolution.
