Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 Android 4.2.2 Update Release Rumored
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 may soon see an update to the latest version of Android. The latest rumor points to a Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.2.2 update in May or June, along with a Galaxy S3 4.2.2 update.
This is good news for owners of the popular Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3, but it is likely that this update will come after the announcement of Android 5.0 (Key Lime Pie) at Google I/O on May 15th.
Samsung recently pushed out Android 4.1.2 updates to several versions of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 is also running Android 4.1.2 on some carriers.
The latest news comes from SamMobile’s twitter account, claiming the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.2.2 update and the Galaxy S3 Android 4.2.2 updates are coming soon, specifically in May or June.

Once this update rolls out, users will be on the same version of Android as the soon to launch Samsung Galaxy S4. At the Galaxy S4 launch event, Samsung promised some of the new Galaxy S4 software features will come to the Galaxy S3, and possibly to the Galaxy Note 2.
Samsung did not announce which features specifically will appear in a Samsung Galaxy note 2 or S3 update, but based on leaks we expect Smart scroll and the Smart pause feature to make an appearance. We may also see further support for Multi-View on the Galaxy S3 in the U.S. and enhanced motion control. The video below shows some of the most impressive Samsung Galaxy S4 software features.
The leak unfortunately does not offer much more information about the Android 4.2.2 update for the Note 2 and Galaxy S3, but it is likely referring to a roll out on the international version of the device. This means U.S. users may be in for a long wait before carriers approve the Android 4.2.2 update.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2 update arrived on U.S. carrier versions nearly three months after the update rolled out in the UK. This delay is unfortunate as is the lack of the Galaxy S3 premium suite of features, which did not make it to the U.S. versions of any of these devices. It’s not clear why carriers and Samsung decided to withhold new features from U.S. customers, but it is possible the same practice could limit the features of the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy note 2 Android 4.2.2 update.
In any case, expect a three-month wait for the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.2.2 updates to hit the U.S. carriers after the initial release. According to an alleged Samsung leak, the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy note 2 are also in line for an update to Android 5.0, but the timing of that rumored update is unknown.

A little disheartening knowing I got one of Samsungs flagship phones (note2) and just because I live in the United States I can’t even get 4.1.2 just ridiculous

I have t-mobile gs3 and i have official 4.1.2 support. i know sprint also has gs3 updated to 4.2.1 for a long time now. You should probably switch to a better carrier that actually supports your device, dont just place blame on samsung.

I have a gs3 on T-Mobile and still no update, so it is because we live in the U.S. I’m considering getting a different phone now because it’s stupid not receiving updates when gs3’s in other countries get all the awesome features. We won’t get 5.0 either. IPhone might be a little boring, but at least when one country gets the update they all do, thinking it’s time to make the switch :(

I have the Samsung Note 2 from Tmobile. They have the release already. If you dont have a msg from them, maybe reboot your phone or check for updates in your settings then about device section for software update. I rooted my phone and I can always have the latest firmware, but I like TouchWiz for my UI. Its not Samsung or the phone its the service providers they are the gate keepers.

Yes my boyfriend has the note 2 as well, and he received the update a couple weeks ago. They don’t plan on giving s3 owners an update anytime soon

I to am with US t-mobile and I am waiting for an update, its not that I want an update for the sake of getting one but netflix broke there app when your running talkback “a blind service for those who are blind” at once. Both fight for the audeo streem and netflix advintually crashes and goes a way. So this is why I want 4.2 because this issue was fixed in the android OS.

Does anyone know if the updates for the SGS3 will come with APN access? I am in the Army, stationed in AFG, I have no data here. I was told all would be fine when I got here, it’s one of the main reasons I bought the SGS3 to begin with. I have been in touch with tier 2 tech’s from verizon and Samsung on conference calls. It seems that the SGS3 and the Note 2 are the only ones effected.
