Galaxy S5 rumors are at an all time high and now we are hearing that the next generation Samsung flagship smartphone could make a debut at a private Samsung event just ahead of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. According to Eldar Martazin on Twitter, the Samsung smartphone could debut on February 23 and launch by the end of April carrying the same price as the Galaxy S4 as when that device launched.
“Samsung Galaxy S5 launch,” Murtazin wrote on social media, would be at “18.00” in Barcelona on “23 February. Price the same. Launch – end of April.”
Additionally, Murtazin is also claiming that the Galaxy S5 would launch with a new version of the Samsung TouchWiz interface on top of Google’s Android operating system. Samsung had evolved TouchWiz over the generations of Galaxy S releases in the past, and an evolution of TouchWiz for mobile phones would make sense given that Samsung is migrating to a newer Magazine UX that will be debuting on new tablets such as the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, and Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 that were announced earlier this month at the Consumer Electronics Show.
With the Magazine UX, Samsung is bringing a more Sense 5-like experience with quick access to information at a glance while flattening the icons to make the appearance look more minimalist and modern, something that Apple, Microsoft, and Google are doing with their respective operating systems.
Right now, Murtazin is saying that the specs are already known, suggesting that what we’ve heard rumored before may hold true.
“Specs,” Murtazin wrote on Twitter, “U know them.”
The device was previously speculated to debut with a slightly larger 5.25-inch QHD resolution with a new processor, a 16- or 20-megapixel camera, and larger battery.
At this time, Murtazin hasn’t disclosed his sources and his track record on rumors in recent years has been mixed. Still, Murtazin remains one of the more connected people in the industry. However, all this information should still be considered with a grain of salt.
