The Samsung Wallet App is now available in the U.S. for users who own the Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2 and various other Samsung devices.

Samsung Wallet is a PassBook like app for Samsung smartphones that includes tickets, coupons, loyalty cards and more in a digital wallet. The app is just launching in the U.S. and in Korea with a limited set of features, and may still be in beta at this time.

Samsung showed off the Samsung Wallet during the Galaxy S4 launch event, but the app has been MIA since. Now users can install the Samsung Wallet app from within the Samsung Apps app on supported devices.

The Samsung Wallet is available on the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 in the U.S., with fewer features than the Korean version.

The U.S. version of Samsung Wallet doesn’t appear to support credit cards and mobile payments at this time. The Korean version of the Samsung Wallet app allows users to add credit cards for faster online payments, though it doesn’t appear that these cards can link up to the NFC chip to make mobile payments at a brick and mortar retailer.

In the U.S. version of Samsung Wallet, there are no options for mobile payments, possibly due to the various carrier agreements that prevent Google Wallet from working on the most popular devices, including the latest Samsung devices.

Users who want to try Samsung Wallet on the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note 2 and other Samsung devices in the U.S. can open Samsung Apps on their device. Search for Samsung Wallet and then choose install. The app will show up in the app launcher just like apps downloaded through Google Play.

From here users can start adding tickets, loyalty cards and other PassBook-like items to their Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Users with multiple Galaxy devices can sync information between the two with a linked Samsung account.

The app will prompt users to download apps that work with Samsung Wallet when in a specific category, but there are not many apps showing up just yet. For example there appears to be a lack of support for travel apps like those from Delta and other airlines.

Samsung includes a barcode feature on the Galaxy S4 what projects a barcode using the proximity sensor, allowing users to use coupons and other scannable items on scanners that can’t read a smartphone screen.

For now, U.S. users will need to make due without mobile payments and without credit cards stored for online purchases. This may be coming in an update, once the app undergoes security testing. Currently there is a PIN lock users can enable to prevent access to their information.
