You might already be familiar with Seagate’s popular Backup Plus Slim portable external hard drive, but the company has improved on it, making it even thinner this time around.
The Backup Plus Ultra Slim is a new portable drive from Seagate that’s 2.5mm thinner than the Backup Plus Slim and comes with a new sleek design that’s a lot better to look at when you’re on the go with all of your files.
The new drive measures in at just 9.6mm (0.38 inches), which is pretty thin for an external hard drive. However, it’s unlikely that you’ll notice the difference right away, or even at all, but the company touts it as the world’s thinnest 2TB external hard drive, which isn’t too much of a surprise, as Seagate is always looking to make its products thinner and thinner.
The Ultra Slim comes in either silver or gold and will be available on 1TB or 2TB storage options, while the 4TB option will not be available for this new drive, unfortunately. The good news is that you’ll get 200GB of free Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage for two years, as well as Lyve software compatibility and Seagate’s Dashboard software for automatically backing up your computer’s files.
The Backup Plus Ultra Slim will be available at some point early this year and pricing details have yet to be disclosed at the moment.
