Space Station Crew Sends Christmas Wishes to Earthlings

Published

on

The International Space Station crew beamed their holiday greetings to those of us stuck on earth in the form of a video message. The first thing I noticed in the video was the array of ThinkPads surrounding them. Maybe I just don’t watch enough NASA television, but I was completely unaware that ThinkPads were used up in space.

You can read more about how the ThinkPads found their way up to the ISS in the summer of 2009 over at Lenovo’s blog. Apparently, astronauts are quite fond of their Thinkpads:

The ThinkPads are so important that NASA astronauts rank them as the second most critical piece of equipment in space, after only the air pressurizer (and ahead of the toilet).

That’s a pretty big stamp of approval if you ask me.
