Sprint 4G LTE Arrives in 15 Cities

Sprint has rolled out its 4G LTE network to 15 markets across the United States, 10 more than the carrier previously announced would be available at launch.

The 4G LTE coverage that launched yesterday extends to cities in and around the five launch cities that Sprint had said would get 4G LTE data starting on July 15th.

The initial 4G LTE markets were said to be Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City and San Antonio.

However, it appears that 15 select cities around those areas are now able to access Sprint’s high-speed data network with 4G LTE equipped devices.

Sprint 4G LTE has arrived in 15 cities.

The cities that can now access Sprint 4G LTE include:

  • Atlanta
  • Athens, Ga.
  • Calhoun, Ga.
  • Carrollton, Ga.
  • Newnan, Ga.
  • Rome, Ga.
  • Dallas
  • Fort Worth, Texas
  • Granbury-Hood County, Texas
  • Houston
  • Huntsville, Texas
  • San Antonio, Texas
  • Waco, Texas
  • Kansas City, Mo.-Kan.
  • St. Joseph, Mo.

Clearly, this a much more expansive roll out than Sprint previously indicated and it should go a long way with 4G LTE device owners who were made to wait for a couple of months for access to Sprint’s brand new 4G LTE network.

Because Sprint’s new network is so wide open and new, owners should expect to be able to pull down some impressive data speeds. The speeds might not be on par with the speeds that we saw weeks ago which were 25 times faster than normal 3G but they should be fast nonetheless.

Sprint’s 4G LTE network should pull down speeds around 10 times faster than normal 3G. The video below showing off AT&T and Verizon 4G LTE data speeds should give customers an idea of what to expect in the future.

Currently, Sprint has four big name devices available on its 4G LTE network including the LG Viper 4G LTE, Samsung Galaxy S III, HTC EVO 4G LTE, and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

Sprint is also rumored to be getting the iPhone 5 this fall which is rumored to have 4G LTE data speed capabilities on board as well.

STILL NO 4G in Dallas — I live in North Dallas (75254) and work in Plano (75047) and had no 4G access whatsoever between either point this morning. I’m still seeing 3G as I type this.

@ Brian ……. I stopped by Spirit on 75 and Spring Creek around 5:30 today. The manager had been in a training in Dallas this morning. Sprint’s coverage area map showed the entire DFW area was receiving LTE signal strength . However, out of 15 people not 1 of them could verify this information. He said they covered a decent range, as they were all from different cities around Dallas. At that time, still no confirmation from anyone in our area.

Still not in Carrollton, GA yet. But I do see the store being built.
