Sprint is now carrying an ultrabook in its lineup and will offer customers the opportunity to have lightweight mobile computing coupled with its 3G/4G Now Network. The package, which will see the Lenovo U310 bundled alongside either a Novatel MiFi 3G/4G hotspot or the Sierra Wireless Overdrive Pro, will cost $850 along with a two-year contract and qualifying data plan. Unfortunately, with the slim Lenovo U310, Sprint’s mobile 3G/4G radio won’t be embedded inside and users looking to pick up this package would have to tether over WiFi with either mobile hotspot units.
Sprint says that it would offer either 3 GB wireless plans for $25 per month or 6 GB data plans for $50 per month. Users who sign up with a two-year agreement will receive three free months of wireless mobile broadband service.
With the Lenovo U310, Sprint is claiming to be the first mobile carrier in the U.S. to offer an ultrabook in its lineup. In the past, carriers have offered notebooks and netbooks coupled with either a mobile hotspot or with an embedded 3G/4G modem.
