The Sunset Overdrive release date is finally here, offering a chance to play a brand new game for the Xbox One, instead of a sequel or prequel like most big-budget games.
There is no PS4 Sunset Overdrive release in the works, so this one is all about the Xbox One and despite a cautious reception at the announcement reviews paint the picture of a fun, fast paced game that Xbox One owners need to check out.
Sunset Overdrive looks like a mash-up of Jet Set Radio, Crackdown and several other free-wheeling open world games, complete with crazy weapons and acrobatic movement throughout the world.
You control a customizable character who is one of the few “normal” people left in the city after an energy drink turns most of the population into zombies or mutants and transforms a bustling city into a dangerous post-apocalyptic playground that you can climb, jump and grind your way through.
The Sunset Overdrive weapons are as over the top as the color scheme, with “The Dude” firing bowling balls at the enemies and many other incredible and incredulous weapons at your disposal.
