Today at CES 2013, T-Mobile announced that it will bring its unlimited 4G plans to its no-contract pre-paid customers.
Starting January 9th, T-Mobile customers will have the option for unlimited 4G without the need for a two-year contract. T-Mobile will offer the plan to users who have any pre-paid phone on its network, including users who brought unlocked phones to the carrier.

These new no-annual contract plans with unlimited 4G will cost $70 per month, which is slightly less than the same plans on two-year contracts. For unlimited 4G on a two-year contract, T-Mobile users have to pay $90 per month every month for two years. Users can choose to add mobile hotspot to the plans for $15 extra per month with or without a contract.
Like T-Mobile two-year contract plans, the unlimited 4G prepaid plans will throttle users after they use 5GB of data. T-Mobile won’t cut users off of data, nor will it charge users more, but they will slow down the data speeds after subscribers use a lot of data.
To celebrate the launch of unlimited 4G with no annual contract, T-Mobile will offer a deal on its LG Optimus L9. The carrier will offer the mid-range Android smartphone for $199.99 with no annual contract. The carrier typically charges $249.99 for the Optimus L9 with no annual contract, so the deal saves users $50 upfront.
As 2013 progresses, T-Mobile will heavily push its plans that don’t require a contract including its no annual contract plans and its Value Plans which are more similar to two-year contract plans.
In 2013, T-Mobile will also carry the iPhone for the first time and finally launch its 4G LTE network. The carrier’s 4G LTE network will launch in Las Vegas in the next few weeks, and will roll out to other parts of the U.S. in the coming months.
