Taiwan Pop Star Tweets Pics of iPhone 5, Speculated to be Fake

Rising Taiwan actor, singer, and race car driver Jimmy Lin had turned to Twitter to post images of what he claims to be images of Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 5. Within five hours of the images going live on Twitter, Lin’s tweet has been reposted over 80,000 times by avid followers. Lin’s comments on the tweet confirms what we have been seeing leaked for the iPhone 5, including a 4-inch display, thinner profile, aluminum backing, and a smaller dock connector. However, images of the phone that were posted may still be a fake as it does not match the latest leaked photos.

“Today I confirmed that the iPhone 5 will be longer and have an aluminum back like the iPad,” Lin wrote, as was reported on The Next Web. “While it has a four-inch screen, it’s thinner, though it feels about the same in the hand. The headphone jack has also been moved to the bottom. As for the dock connector, the iPhone 5 doesn’t use the 30-pin connector, instead changing to a smaller 19-pin connector.”

The site noticed that there were some ‘irregularities’ from Lin’s images and from what we’ve seen before, suggesting that Lin may possess a high-end fake or perhaps even an early manufacturing prototype. However, given the closeness between Taiwan and China and that Apple’s supply chain and manufacturing occurs in that region of the world, perhaps this is a sign of things to come.

The iPhone 5 is expected to be announced on September 12 with pre-orders rumored to occur on the same day. The phone will go on sale later in the month. The iPhone 5 has already been faked in an Android model.
