It looks like the Amazon Kindle DX will have some competition in the textbook market. The AppleBlog is linking to a Wall St. Journal report (subscription required) saying that 12 major textbook publishers including McGraw Hill and Pearson will be making their wares available on the iPhone and iPod Touch.
The program is being operated by CourseSmart LLC and is on a rental model. The app is free for CourseSmart subscribers. The program promises to lower costs over buying hard cover books, which only makes sense, but there is that small screen to deal with.
Or could this be another harbinger for that mythical Apple device that isn’t a Tablet with a screen around 10 inches or so?
