Better battery life is the Holy Grail of mobile computing. No question there. Until someone somewhere comes up with a better idea, and a way to break the reliance on the lithium ion solution we are all accustomed to these days, we are still trying with each processor evolution to ring more juice out of the same old same old. Steve “Chippy” Paine has a post where he looks at some of the info distributed at the recent Intel Developer Forum, and he offers some interesting, yet sober, conclusions. Chippy says it will take a combination of a different battery solution and hardware and software engineering to see an up trend in battery life, which only makes sense. I still think, though, that there has to be a better way.
