Even with the inevitable trend toward smartphones as our primary computing devices, cheap Black Friday laptops are one of the biggest requests from consumers each holiday. With the abundance of in-store and online shopping options, however, it can be difficult to figure out which deals are deals and which deals…aren’t. Fortunately, we’ve gone and found the best cheap laptops for the 2015 Black Friday sale.
One of the problems facing technology and laptop shoppers each Black Friday is deciphering the model numbers and spec sheets for each item, and looking it up online to see either how much it is elsewhere, or good the reviews seem to be. This has gotten increasingly difficult in recent years, as manufacturers work with retailers to offer variant models – keeping you from price matching or doing any research.
Other tricks to watch out for are when manufacturers or retailers offer laptops with the same model number, but subtly different specs. If you researched a laptop earlier in the week and see it pop up on a Black Friday sale, check the specifications carefully to make sure it didn’t get saddled with a slow hard drive, less RAM, or an older CPU. Another thing to watch out for is warranty support – often you’ll see stellar Black Friday laptop deals for refurbished products. While these are generally a pretty safe buy, depending on the brand, the warranties will often be a fraction of the support guaranteed to a newer product.
Best Cheap Black Friday Laptop Deal:
Dell Inspiron 11 3000 Series 2-in-1
We really like the Dell Inspiron 11 for a number of reasons. First of all, it’s versatile: as a 2-in-1 device, the Inspiron 11 3000 Series can act as both a laptop and a tablet, saving you money over having to buy one of each. It’s not just the fancy exterior that lands this model on our best of Black Friday list – it’s the impressive specifications on the inside, too.
You’ll get a dual-core Intel Core i3 CPU, 4 GB of memory, and a 500GB hard drive (note: swapping out a hard drive for a cheap Black Friday SSD is pretty easy), as well as a multitouch HD screen. You’ll be able to find this on Dell’s website, but note that while a $300 model is available today, there’s a better version coming later this week. Be sure to check out our sister site, Notebooks.com, for the rest of our cheap Black Friday laptop deals.
Best Black Friday Chromebook Deal:
Acer Chromebook 11 Laptop with Intel CPU
This little Acer Chromebook is an insanely good deal for a 2015 Black Friday Chromebook. This model has been out on the market for some time, but since it runs the lightweight Chrome OS from Google, it will offer reasonably snappy performance even on older components. You can expect a dual-core Intel CPU, an 11.6-inch HD display – no touchscreen here – just 2 GB of RAM, but speedy 802.11ac Wi-Fi. You’ll be able to pick this up from OfficeMax and Office Depot for an unbelievable price: just $95. That’s half off the normally low price, and a hard deal to beat at less than a hundred bucks.
Over on Notebooks.com, we’ve got the rest of our Black Friday laptop picks, including the best touchscreen laptops, and the best Black Friday gaming laptop deals (an Alienware with GTX 970m for less than $1200? Yes, please). If you miss Black Friday, or can’t quite find the best laptop for you, be sure to check out our current Best Laptops Under $500 list, as well as which are the Best Chromebooks and Best Gaming Laptops on the market right now.
