The Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro: A Beautiful Bending Premium Notebook
The Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro is a slim and stylish notebook that bends and folds into four modes to suit different usage scenarios. It’s the third iteration of the popular Yoga line and one of the more stylish notebooks you’ll find at retailers this holiday season.
The Yoga 3 Pro is a premium notebook that will start selling in the coming days at Best Buy for $1,349.99. It doubles as a tablet and can be used in a number of positions. It will come in Platinum Silver, Champagne Gold and Clementine Orange.
You can order the Yoga 3 Pro starting today at Lenovo.com.
Lenovo showed off the Yoga 3 Pro at a private briefing in San Francisco. Above is a video showing off Lenovo’s latest notebook.
This notebook’s display is gorgeous. It has a much higher resolution screen than most notebooks this size, cramming 3200 x 1800 pixels into the 13.3″ touch-enabled display. The display is covered with Gorilla Glass to make it more durable.
At first glance the Yoga 3 Pro looks quite a bit like last year’s Yoga notebooks, but there are some nice refinements that set the newer model apart. A new watchband-style hinge looks better and offers a smoother movement. There’s also a new software package called Harmony. The software helps the Yoga 3 Pro adapt to users’ needs as the device is folded into different modes.
Here is a Yoga 3 Pro promo video Lenovo posted on YouTube that shows some of the different modes you can use the convertible notebook in.
The Yoga 3 Pro is really thin and light. It weighs in at just 2.61 lb and measures half an inch at its thickest point. That doesn’t leave a whole lot of room for internal components, but its battery is still rated to last for up to 9 hours on a single charge.
On the inside is an Intel Core M-70 processor, up to 9GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. Its specs won’t blow you away, but it’s more than powerful enough for most users. The device runs Windows 8.1.
The previous Yoga notebook was one of the best selling premium notebooks over the past year and we don’t see any reason why this upcoming year would be any different.
While a lot of companies are focused on budget notebooks during the end of the year, Lenovo’s pushing high-quality devices that are worth the extra cash.
One of Lenovo’s most innovative products of the year is the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro, a 13″ Android tablet that features a built-in projector that can display a 50″ picture on the wall.
Above is a video demo of Lenovo’s Yoga Tablet 2 Pro. It looks better in person than it does in the video and it’s certain to be a hit this holiday season. It will sell for just $449, which is a little less than the full-sized iPad Air.
Those looking for a business convertible notebook should take a look at the new ThinkPad Yoga 14. It will be available at Best Buy in the coming weeks.
