The SEIDIO Vitreo Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy S4
The SEIDIO Vitreo Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy S4 wins the honor of best screen protector for the Samsung Galaxy S4 we’ve seen, just as the iPhone 5 version held the same honor. The protector goes on easily and keeps a smart phone display safe from scratches and even some impact.
The SEIDIO Vitreo Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy S4 ($39.95 direct) installs quickly. Just like other screen protectors, clean the phone’s screen, carefully apply the protector and squeegee out the bubbles.
The SEIDIO Vitreo comes with everything the installer needs. We get the screen protector, a cleaning cloth, an alcohol wipe to clean off the screen and a cardboard squeegee.
It’s easy to apply this screen protector. The hardest part comes when the installer tries to space the protector over the screen with the cutouts for the button at the bottom and the speaker at the top fitting just right. We cleaned the Galaxy S4 screen and took off the back plastic protector from the Vitreo that keeps debris off the sticky back of the tempered glass. We placed the Vitreo on the display careful not to let too many bubbles get trapped. Then we took off the front plastic film the Vitreo. These plastic film layers protect the Vitreo until the protector gets applied.
It’s nearly impossible to apply one of these protectors without trapping a few bubbles. That’s why SEIDIO includes the cardboard squeegee. We rubbed out as many of the bubbles as possible and then waited. The rest eventually disappeared after a few hours. Finally, we applied the small black home button cover. It gives a raised button feel that makes it easier to touch with the thick screen protector on the screen. Without the button cover, the button feels recessed and harder to press.
The screen protector feels just like the Samsung Galaxy S4 display. Most plastic protectors feel like plastic and there’s too much resistance as the user slides their finger or stylus over the screen. It cost nearly $40, four times the cost of SEIDIO’s plastic protectors, but we think that it’s worth every penny to protect our display. The SEIDIO Vitreo Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Samsung Galaxy S4 feels smooth, goes on quickly and easily, doesn’t trap bubbles and includes everything the installer needs to apply it perfectly.
