Jailbreaking your iDevice means that you add a small program that allows you to tweak and customize your it a little bit more. There are 2 main pros with doing this: 1. Theming (You can customize icons, lockscreen, etc.) and 2. tweaking your idevice (customize your cpu, adding flash, etc.). Theming is mostly done with Dreamboard and Winterboard, which are two of the many theme hosting applications from Cydia.
After getting my new Black 16gb 3g iPad 2 a couple of days ago, I realized that I had to jailbreak it. So I did. And I customized the heck out of it. And now that I’ve done the research, I will share with you some of the best themes from Cydia (The jailbreak “App Store”).
Here are the top 5 themes:
Elite Pro is a very nice theme that is sleek, elegant, and has a nice smooth gradient background. This theme does cost $1.99, but you can get it for free by going into Cydia. Choose manage, sources, edit, add, and type in cydia.xsellize.com.
Nova is a nice theme with a sleek, matte finish background. The main icons have a “bin” look and has the icon symbol on the front. The downside of Nova is that it doesn’t cover many apps. This theme is free from Cydia.
Grounded is a nice free theme with many icons and has a variety of different spiral, solid and circle color backgrounds. You can choose which one you want in Winterboard. The icons on Grounded are unique because they are turned 45 degrees to the right, and you can only see half the icon. They are covered with a face, depending on which app it is.
Orbz is a nice theme that is simple, and free. You can get it at the iSpazio repo from Cydia. The Orbz theme has icons that are the shape of orbs with a silver lining on the outside. The background is just a normal smooth, light version of black.
Illumine is a nice theme with a smooth background and has matte finish icons. What is great about Illumine is that it covers over 300 apps and is completely free!
