U.S. Cellular Details 4G LTE Rollout for 2013

Increasingly, building out an expensive network and going “all in” on better call quality and faster speeds isn’t something unique to the United States largest mobile carriers. U.S. Cellular is detailing its 4G LTE plans for 2013 and it seems their subscribers will be able enjoy some of the best data speeds around.

U.S. Cellular together with business partner King Street Wireless, announced it will be introducing or expanding the coverage of their next generation 4G LTE services to cities in Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin. All told the rollout of the new service should be completed by the end of this calendar year.

4G LTE is the latest the latest data communication standard to come to the U.S. customers and is generally used to bolster existing widespread 3G data services on all four of the nation’s cell phone carriers though, your smartphone or tablet must be designed to take advantage of the faster protocol and typically leaves you with a little less battery power to talk, watch videos, and browse the internet than phones powered by 3G data.

Luckily for those inclined, U.S. Cellular offers an impressive collection of compatible phones that rival even a few its national counterparts and are designed from the ground up to give them the best of both worlds in relation to battery life and using 4G LTE on a consistent basis. A few of these include the Samsung Galaxy Axiom, Motorola Electrify M, and Samsung Galaxy S3, though the latter is only available in white.

U.S. Cellar’s expansion comes at the same time as its competitors also look to meet the needs of tomorrow’s more data hungry band of smartphone users. In January, Sprint announced that they too would be expanding the availability of their 4G LTE. Both Verizon and AT&T plan to finish their rollout of their own 4G LTE technology this year.
