UMPC Prototype From Quanta
Intel is showing off a UMPC manufactured by Quanta and apparently to be branded by Yahoo at Intel’s Developer Conference in Tapei. The UMPC will run Yahoo’s digitial entertainment software that is based on Intel’s Viiv technology. The Yahoo package includes Go TV, Yahoo photos, music, etc… and runs the XP Tablet OS. I’ve been saying all along that the UMPC platform looks like an excellent media delivery device and I wonder how many more “branded” UMPCs we’ll see in the future. Seems like a natural to me, though I would think the prices will need to really take a drop before consumers will be interested in a “branded” model.
