Verizon Moto X Update Brings an Improved Camera Experience & More

Published

on

Today Verizon Wireless and Motorola began pushing out a much anticipated software update for the Moto X. Said to be very similar to the upgrade that has already arrived on most other carriers, the Moto X on Verizon will be getting a few improvements, most notably with that 10 megapixel “Clear Pixel” camera.

AT&T and others received the update first, and so far we’ve all been waiting for the same features and stunning camera enhancements to arrive for Verizon, and now they have. After some initial soak test beta versions started rolling out earlier this week, Verizon’s already hit go and users are reporting the update is available and rolling out as we speak. More details on what’s new can be found below.

According to some sightings by Droid-Life, the update is rolling out as we speak and the image below should provide plenty of details regarding what to expect. Along with tons of improvements to the camera quality, focus, lighting, colors, and more, there’s also tweaks to the touchless controls. Voice actions with Google Now should be faster, more accurate, and more responsive after the update.

Then it appears the rest of the update is mainly centered around bug fixes and minor tweaks, and the camera is the important part. Other carrier models have been receiving high praises from users, so we’re expecting the Verizon Moto X to have the same luck.

Last but not least it appears Verizon and Motorola have improved call quality and choppy audio, as well as added an expiration date to the 50GB of free Google Drive cloud storage all Moto X buyers will receive. So retrieve that promotion before it ends, which is 30 days after device activation.

In terms of the Verizon Moto X for those who’ve yet to order one, the entire Motorola DROID lineup recently received a $100 price cut across the board, and we’re hoping Verizon does something similar with the Moto X. Add that to the fact the full customization options only available on AT&T will be coming to Verizon early next month, you might want to wait and snag one sometime in November.

If you already own the Verizon Moto X and are looking forward to these awesome new features and a better camera experience, head into settings and check for updates, as it should be arriving anytime now.
