The Samsung Galaxy S3 is now $99 on Verizon Wireless, offering a cheaper option to the upcoming Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4. This marks the last major carrier to cut the price of the Samsung Galaxy S3, a move which we typically see when carriers the release of a new model is close.
This morning Verizon quietly cut the price of the Samsung Galaxy S3 to $99 online direct from Verizon, shoppers can also find the Verizon Galaxy S3 for as low as $19.99 on third party websites and users who signed up for Best Buy’s Update deal before the Super Bowl can score a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 for $50 as well.
In short, with the influx of Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 deals, including those direct from the carrier, we expect that Verizon will soon be announcing Galaxy S4 details. We already know that the Verizon Galaxy S4 passed through the FCC and competitors are planning spring launches for the Galaxy S4.

While Verizon is not offering any Galaxy S4 release date information at this time, the price cut is the latest signal that the carrier is close to announcing something.
Verizon was one of the last carriers to offer a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 pre-order and the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 release also arrived late to the party, so we may see a similar situation at play now.
With the Verizon HTC One release still a mystery and a lackluster BlackBerry Z10 launch in general, Verizon is in need of some news soon to combat AT&T’s expanding roster of smartphones and T-Mobile’s new UNCarrier approach which is bringing the iPhone 5, HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4 in the coming weeks.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 features a larger 5-inch 1080P HD display with features that allow users to hover a finger over the display, or combine motion and eye-tracking to control the smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S4 also delivers the ability to use two apps at once, which U.S. versions of the Galaxy S3 can’t. Users also gain a better processor, access to wireless charging and a better 13MP camera on the Galaxy S4.
