If you have been in the market for a new 4G LTE smartphone from Verizon, February 29th might just be the day that you want to make your purchase. In honor of Leap Day, the carrier is hosting a one day sale on all of its 4G LTE devices including the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, HTC Rezound and the Motorola Droid RAZR. What does the deal entail? It appears that the carrier will slash $100 off of the prices of select devices.
The landing page offers no other details other then the discount and the list of some of the devices that will be included in the deal.
And lucky for all of you, it’s a good one.
The prices will presumably, based on current prices, look like this:
- HTC Rezound — $99.99 -> Free
- Motorola Droid Bionic — $99.99 -> Free
- Motorola Droid RAZR — 16GB $199 -> $99/32GB $249.99 -> $149.99
- Motorola Droid Xyboard — Xyboard 10.1 w/ 16GB $529.99 -> $429.99, 10.1 w/ 32GB $629.99 -> $529.99, 10.1 w/ 64GB $729.99 -> $629.99/Xyboard 8.2 32GB $529.99 -> $429.99
- Samsung Galaxy Nexus — $299.99 -> $199.99
- Samsung Stratosphere — $99.99 -> Free
Again, those are most of the devices that make up the cream of the crop on Verizon’s 4G LTE network. Noticeably absent are the recently released Motorola Droid 4 and the Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX.
Very quickly, let’s rundown each device.
We liked the HTC Rezound when we reviewed it and it got even better when HTC unlocked its bootloader. That means that you not only get an HD display, a speedy dual-core processor, and Beats Audio, but you also get a device that can be fully customized with custom ROMs.
And it’ll only get better with the arrival of Android 4.0.
The Droid Bionic was the first dual-core 4G LTE device from Verizon and while it has had its bugs, it’s also a solid device that stands to get better with the upgrade to Android 4.0.
Motorola’s Droid RAZR is a thin 4G LTE smartphone, boasting a 7.1mm thin design. We loved it and were surprised when Motorola introduced the Droid RAZR MAXX just a few months later.

Still, it’s a solid choice because of the features its able to pack into its form factor.
The Motorola Xyboard is the company’s follow-up to the Motorola Xoom and we found the tablet to have some solid features including a great design and build and fantastic battery life.

Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy Nexus is one of, if not the best Android device ever made, and it certainly should be on any consumers radar. It has a vanilla version of Android that’s easily customizable, a large vibrant display, and Android 4.0 right out of the box.

That’s a tasty recipe.
Lastly, the Samsung Stratosphere. The Stratosphere is a solid mid-range device that totes a physical keyboard.
We fully expect Verizon to require the signing of a new two-year contract to get these prices so be prepared to put your signature on the dotted line.
